After ages and ages of playing with my camera, getting some great shots and really enjoying them, I realised that all I did was dump them to my hard drive, edit them and then utterly fail to share any of them! So, in order to remedy that, here are a bunch of cool shots that I took at various stages but have forgotten to reveal, until now It’s great to dig through and find shots you’ve forgotten about! ...

I came across thus poster and it’s long overdue. Especially after all the cyclists being killed by lorries. I remember reading about a woman being killed while undertaking a lorry on a left hand corner and the papers and relatives blaming the driver for driving unsafely. The trouble is that people don’t have common sense and cyclists have a habit of being entitled idiots who assume the road revolves around them. ...

So I’ve separated my portfolio from my main blog installation in an effort to make it more of a concrete ‘photo blog’ setup instead of trying to shoehorn it in along a regular blog. I got to play with some rather hefty Moonblaze-style heads last week and they were excessively fun! The flames were enormous, the chain rig was pretty sweet and overall it was great fun to play with them. However, I did come across something that is, I think, quite a serious issue in poi head design sometimes. The kevlar was so loosely woven that the heads started to disintegrate as the fire had spread to inside the head. ...

I came across a very interesting article on the Guardian’s site which talks about how LSD can make you come to terms with yourself and is not a purely escapist drug, as many believe. I recently threw together a downtempo-ish compilation of tunes to take to a chilled evening with friends in a most haphazard way, but they **worked** really well together. As an interesting mind/attitude exercise, for the next week, I plan to note down one awesome thing that I saw, heard or experienced that day. You should do the same. It’ll be interesting to see what tickles you and makes you go “yeah that was great!”. To look over a week’s worth of things that made you smile might reveal things about yourself you might not have otherwise found out! ...

A ferrofluid is a made up of nanoscale ferrous particles suspended in a carrier fluid such as an oil or even water. They behave in a similar fashion to non-Newtonian fluids in the sense that you can do some rather funky stuff with them. Thanks to the antics of the questionably sane National Express coach drivers on the 12-hour ride down from Aberdeen – namely putting the air conditioning on ‘cold’ when it was sub zero outside – I now have some horrendous viral infection. What on earth possessed the driver of my coach to London to flip on the air conditioning when it’s -3 outside? Aberdeen was, as usual, lots of fun. Despite our main gig being cancelled last minute, a productive time was had! We made jelly, watched films, caught up with people, entertained some randoms and generally had a good giggle. Now my mouth is missing its lining after the boiling hot tea I had to ingest to get warm at a service station. ...

A friend linked this and it’s a brilliant idea! Drawing 3D light paintings using a long-exposure photograph and an iPad. Note that I’m not saying “OMGOMGOMGOMG THE IPAD IS AWESUM GET OEN NOW!!1!”. However, what these guys did is bloody clever!

Kev from Spinning@ kindly donated some more music to my repository of ‘things I listen to when I do stuff’. It’s fairly extensive. The genre in question is Electro Swing. From what I can gather from listening, it’s a delicious fusion of splendid dancy jazzy swing and machines and synth noises. It really is something special and a lot of fun Here’s a sample!

So I’ve been thinking about our government – the UK that is – and the ways of policymakers in general of late.. It strikes me that we’re now stuck in an age where the old guard who ‘survived the [crisis of your choice] in [the 19xx’s]’ claim to know what is best for the country because in their opinion, environment and mindset, age equals experience. While in some cases it’s true and age can certainly mean greater experience in life and so forth, it’s no use if the experience is wrong or, worse still, outdated. ...
