I’m still getting the hang of shooting with my reversed-lens setup without a tripod. The great thing is that suddenly a lawn becomes incredibly interesting once you can get down to that level of detail.

The first frost of the year has hit and mornings are the perfect time to capture some macro images of ice crystals!

In keeping (somewhat) with my photographic theme, today I noticed that it was valiantly attempting to snow. Mostly it turned into slush but some of it stuck around on plants in the garden and on my back as I was bent over staring intently at bushes through a lens. Anyhow I managed to do some photography and got a bunch of pictures of snowflakes and other states of water. Now I wish I could feel my fingers… ...

I dusted off my camera and took it outside over the weekend while Spring was doing its utmost to make itself felt in the air and got these out of 10 minutes’ worth of snapping! Nature is pretty amazing at times!  It could be a tulip or for all I know, a spaceship!

I’ve been meaning to shoot some HDR images for a while now, ever since I got some funky custom firmware for my camera that allows for such shenanigans and makes it easier. So finally I got out and shot some!

I was at a friend’s house over the weekend and since my new EOS 60D arrived last week, I spent a large chunk of time playing with it and getting to grips with its various quirks and foibles. There aren’t many, thankfully. I also wound up shooting lots of macro shots of bits of plants and I must say, I’m very impressed with the performance overall!  More Dried Leaves

I shot some macros outside in the garden just after it had finished raining and yet again I had to salvage them from my memory card which became unreadable. It’s time to get a new memory card, I think! This one is about 3 years old and it’s quite honestly running out of I/O capacity!  One of my white roses!  

I came across this incredible piece of audio porn while watching one of Rastaxel’s mind-bending poi videos. The man knows how to pick awesome backing tracks to go with amazing poi moves. This track, however, makes me feel like I’m floating if I close my eyes and would be perfect for winding down the body while the mind revels in the myriad layered soundscapes. https://youtu.be/7kL91mMgGpM?hd=1

That dreaded messageI had a very narrow escape with these photos. Midway through my photo walkabout, the camera flashed up this dreaded message. So I promptly shut my camera down, and prayed. Fortunately, I was able to recover the images from the card, for the most part, thanks to PhotoRec, a free piece of SD card recovery software that does block-level scans of the SD card and pieces together your files. ...

A friend linked this to me. It’s a spectacular piece of time-lapse photography. I can only imagine how long this took to shoot.

After ages and ages of playing with my camera, getting some great shots and really enjoying them, I realised that all I did was dump them to my hard drive, edit them and then utterly fail to share any of them!
